Fault codes C1A20-64 and C1A27-14

It started with the yellow suspension failure warning on the dash and fault code C1A20-64, Pressure increases to slow………
No matter the number of times the fault was cleared, the fault reappeared 20 seconds after starting the car.

Eventually, DTC C1A27-14 appeared in unison, Compressor circuit - general electrical failure…….

Flipped the bonnet, suspension compressor fuse was blown. Put in a new fuse, it lit up like a Christmas tree light, then blew.

Got down on my knees, removed the pump cover. Pump was burning hot, and so was the wiring. Bought a new pump, fitted, cleared all faults and everything was as sweet as a sugar plum once again.

Felt surgically inclined this afternoon, so did an autopsy on my old pump. This is what I found.










Pump big end bearing had catastrophically failed eventually jamming up the con rod when it broke loose. Metallic bits made an indentation on the pump bore, eventually scoring the piston seal.

Well, this is a Hitachi pump that had been on the car since new, and the car has done exactly 250,000 kms.
I guess I’ve got my money’s worth. 🤣

….and a brand new Hitachi pump.
