Leisure battery under bonnet L320

Hi all, I want to install a leisure battery in my 2013 RRS but there are two electronic modules in the ‘battery tray’ in the offside wing area under the bonnet. Can these be safely relocated or has anyone found another suitable spot for a second battery. Many thanks. 2013 RRS HSE Black Edition

The Disco 3/4 had a Aux battery option, might be able to utilise the brackets etc. from one of those to reposition the ecu's and wiring to make space to accommodate a battery, only a suggestion as not sure how much difference there is under the bonnet that side between the Disco and L320.

Cheers
Col

The L320 and the Disco (L319) are the same under the bonnet for each engine except for the Dynamic Response ARB items.

The early RRS and D3 had space for an auxiliary battery in front of the brake servo (if the FBH was fitted behind the NSF headlight). The Aus and other hot country versions didn't have an FBH so the aux battery can go where the FBH is on cold models.

On later L320 andL319 (facelift RRS and D4) the aux battery location has alarm and other boxes in the way. Why? Because no one fitted aux batteries (except n very rare cases). On hot county models, the aux battery ca still go where the FBH is on cold weather models. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The D4 also had the option to fit a Aux battery which fits quite close to the air filter, although they are quite small capacity batteries at 15Ahr/200amp 150mm L x 90mm W, you could probably squeeze one into the L320 but personaly not sure it would be worth the effort.

Cheers

Thanks for the responses. I belong to a 4x4 Response group and want an auxiliary battery for amber LEDs, a matrix and led floodlights. The current draw would be quite small so I may try to fit a compact battery with a split charger and see if that works. I’ll let you know. 2013 RRS HSE Black Edition

The 15Ah battery in the D4 was, I think, for the stop/start system but if you can get a battery of that size and it fits both the space available and your needs then that's the way to go.

You'll need to register with that forum to access the photos, but it might be worthwhile for your project. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Thank you, the D4 battery will be perfect for my needs as the LEDs draw very little power. 2013 RRS HSE Black Edition

If you get it working I'd be very interested in how you did it.
I'd like to do similar Current car - 2016 MY17 L494 in black - sometimes towing a Buccaneer Cruiser.
Sadly gone - 2013 L320 3.0 TD in grey! sometimes towing a Buccaneer Cruiser.
