United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue
My 1st Range Rover Sport

I am new to the Sport seen being an owner of a Freelander 2, L322 and D3. I received a message from someone I know saying that they had had enough of this Range Rover Sport, having been taken to 2 Land Rover specialists who couldn't fix it! I won't name them, but being a Land Rover specialist myself although don't really touch Sports often, I offered to buy it and have a go myself. When I got it, the Transfer case module was confused after someone jet washed the engine Shocked Rolling Eyes apparently!

Anyway, the other specialists tried replacing the module and couldn't program it!

So what I found was shockingly stupid! Someone had cut the wiring loom by the module! And the battery was knackered, and the replacement module was not the correct module for the car Rolling Eyes So I repaired the loom properly, replaced the module for the correct one, stuck a new battery on and hey presto, Fixed! I informed my mate today who is in turn phoning the muppets he used to try and fix it before me!

I just have the seat wiring to sort next as the motor is constantly on in the seat until I unplugged it, as someone my rounded size cannot fit in the car at the moment.

I have also updated the grills and vents by painting the original ones and polished the headlights. The wheels are being refurbished tomorrow, then not sure what is next.

It's only done 1450000 Miles, long mot, so would make a great backup car if needed.

Welcome to the madhouse! Thumbs Up

Well done sorting it out. Amazed that someone had cut the loom. Or perhaps I'm not amazed these days. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

As its a 2007, Don't forgot to replace the oil pump before it destroys the engine and do cambelt at the same time

I know Rolling with laughter I am on Disco3 and Fullfat as I have 3 D3's, 2 L322's and now an L322 and a Freelander 2.

I am selling this sport though. It was meant for my other half, but it is too big and he has decided to keep the Mini instead.

It's too small for what I need and I have just finally got my pride and joy Green D3 in the final stages of restoration to be back on the road which should be done before Christmas day. I am fitting a new battery to this one on Friday and then it will be advertised on here too. It is nice to drive though.

Sad and happy to say, Never again! Sorry but my Sport was cursed! Got rid of it yesterday at a loss!

I put the P.O.S up for sale, then 3 foreigners came, and all caught on CCTV put oil in the coolant, up the exhaust and over the engine, needless to say they RAN when I got angry with them! Footage is all over Facebook!

So at this point, I had enough, and took a £1500 loss on it and sold it back to the previous owner who is now selling it as spares or repairs.

Thoroughly put me off of these. It was meant for my partner anyway who rejected it and told me to stick it, and decided to keep his Mini Rolling with laughter

But I am sticking with my D3's and L322's, and selling my precious Freelander 2 which is far better than this car.

I really hope that whoever buys this one, kindly sets it on fire and posts a video of it burning Rolling with laughter

I don't think I will buy another one again anytime soon Rolling with laughter I even prefer my 1.7 Diesel Astra over the Sport. Hell, I would drive a Matiz and love it in comparison Rolling with laughter

I wish all of you the best, I will still work on these as an independent LR specialist, but no thank you to owning one.
Only thing I liked was the speed.

So this is me saying goodbye to this car. I will stay on the Forum for advice if needed in the future though.

Sadly once these fall in to the hands of those that can't or won't spend the necessary to look after them, they go downhill very quickly. Looks like you bought one that had previously been poorly treated and you paid the price, which is a real shame as they're great vehicles when they're in good fettle. I'm on my second - the first was sold with 175k+ miles on it and still going well, the current one's got 140k miles on it and going strong [touches wood!]. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I’m still scratching my head at this one. Buys a known problem car, tries to fix it, tries to sell it, people make a further mess of the car, sells it at a loss and blames all RRS’s saying they’re the same. Yet it’s almost the same as the LR3, just different body. Oh well, probably for the best. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Agree with RRSTDV8 & NoExpert. These things must be maintained and faults fixed. A great car often underestimated, we've had ours 7 years and just turned 100k. Still not looking at anything else. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.
