Driving back home and I get gear box fault come up on the dash followed by pretty much every warning symbol , looking for somewhere to pull over when the steering goes solid and can hardly turn it , panel blanks out and engine dies. 2 hours later recovery comes and releases the brake to winch onto flat bed, so what do we think , Alternator maybe.

Alternator &/or battery - low volts can throw up all sorts of error messages.

Alternator and battery by the looks of it, trying to steer it to the side of the road when your steering has gone as well is an interesting one, feels like your trying to turn a tank, once all your displays go blank prepare yourself.
