Help Please 🙂 - L494 Steering Wheel Heating Issue

Good morning all,

So, I have a L494 2016 that I am in the process of facelifting.

I bought a brand new SVR steering wheel and fitted the BMW Custom Loom to allow the new switch packs to work. All functions work fine but for some reason the steering wheel heating button just flashes and won’t switch on. My old wheel functioned no problem with the old switch packs. All connectors were like for like when I switched them over.

Am I missing the obvious?

I have attached some photos to help.

New wheel:

The heated button that flashes:

The new loom:

Haha,

100% heated!

The strange thing is now the old wheel, loom and old switch packs won’t heat the old wheel. It’s surely a clock spring issue or a fuse but I wouldn’t know which ones to check 🙈

Yeah,

I did all that. Strange thing is, I went for a decent run out in the car. Came back and it’s working. I have been working on the car a little and the battery was low. I have no idea if that may be a reason but when I switched the engine back on to test that 12V was coming from the clock spring wheel pins it worked!!

Maybe luck but I’ll take it 😂

Looks superb, I’ll get some pictures on when I get the airbag refitted.

Speak soon

Honest it was really simple, Torx T-25 for the screws for switch pack and paddles. 4 in total.

Skinny Flat head screwdriver to push the air bag release.

Torx T-50 for the wheel.

Probably a 20 minute job!

Longest part is waiting the 10 minutes for the electrics to discharge.

👍
