Gearbox update

Hi all. 2007 tdv8 here. Was wondering if a software update might help with clunk between 1st and 2nd occasionally? Is there anyone near Bath that can update? Thanks

Im not an expert, but I would imagine you would be better giving it a mega flush.

There are software updates available via IID tool. I did my BCM the other day but its £25 an update and some are UBS dealer only so youd have to ask them. Also, youd need the IID tool.

How many miles out of curiosity? I had an auto Volvo do this and it was a build up of hot oil scum on the solenoid valves. Was an absolute pig of a job to change them out.

How many miles has the gearbox done? It might just be a simple case of wear and a software update won't cure that, sadly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

You can try it, but I have my doubts. How can you tell they are clean? Have you had the vavle body out etc?
I really recommend the iid tool but it isnt cheap - GAP's customer support is second to none so ask first as it may only be dealer updatable.

Yes had the mechatronic out and checked solenoids. I know it’s not specific but I have a snap on solus and not sure if sport will be long term so reluctant to buy another reader. Was hoping someone would be close by who could try an update 🙏

Try land rover or indy garages. The issue with iid is it binds to one VIN unless its a garage tool ( and costs a lot ) would be my advice, but I fear your not going to get what your looking for. When it was flushed was a calibration done etc?

I’m sure T&S Norman do flushes, not to far away. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.
