From what you've said Phil, I assume you've checked the vent on the wing?

Thanks everyone. The bonnet seems ok, the sidestep seems ok and the mudflap is hand tight, so I am still looking. I'll check the vent but again, its hand tight and doesn't seem to move.

Have you had a new window screen recently? |

Yeah had a similar issue after having screen replaced, turned out to be broken clip at top of screen pillar trim, replaced all the clips and noise disappeared.

Lots of things to check and likely a case of checking everything one at a time.

I had a similar problem long ago and found it was the top of the windscreen rubber getting high speed air under it and causing it to flap basically like the reed in a musical instrument. Sounds unlikely and that is exactly why it was hard to pinpoint. Get a roll of good quality duct tape and after thoroughly cleaning the rubber along the top of the screen - tape all along then test drive. Tip, don’t leave the tape on for more than a day or so or in sunny hot conditions or you will take a week to get it off again. Peel back on itself is the best way to avoid it tearing. 4 Landrovers and 7 Range Rovers in 40 years.

I had exactly the same thing as blastcleaner and it sounds as though it's coming from inside the door but it was the plastic runners joining up to the top of the windscreen that had some loose so the wind was getting underneath it at around 70mph.

Thanks everyone and sorry for my delayed reply! I've taken my side steps off now and its not quite as bad, they were very badly corroded underneath with bits of loose metal, so they went in the skip!

and the problem was..... a trim clip missing from the black weather strip on the roof! it left a small hole which the wind got inside off and made the noise. A bit like when you blow over the top of a bottle.
