No you're right but at least you're honest with yourself.

Your dealer is wrong. Each TR setting effectivley pre loads the center diff. The optimum road setting is, road. You have a lot of grip on tarmac and therefore the diff is open. As others have said, use sport or command shift. Remember the gearbox is adaptive so it learns the way you drive. So if you have been doing a lot of town mileage then out onto open road, the car will feel slugish. Using sand mode is a sure way to kill your tyres and possibly yourself. It severly limits the DSC. |

I was thinking on having mine remaped, but over here, every one tells me that the remap would void the manufactures warranty. In you experience your dealers don't check if the car has been remaped? |

Not quite sure as to the warranty aspect, but some dealers will do it for you, so i would presume it shouldn't affect the warranty. Maybe if the engine went bang there might be an issue If you chose not to tell the dealer it has been done then they wont know, but if you have any upgrades done to the ECU, ie warranty work it may wipe the remap off, and then you will have to have it remapped again, but some of the companies that supply it in the first instance might do it free of charge if this happens. I didn't tell my dealer of the remap in the first instance and it got wiped clean off and it cost me again to get it replaced I have since told my dealer and they have made a note against my service records, All things said i personally think its worth having done, i wouldn't hesitate in getting the V8 done, when i get it some of my Previous cars -------------------------------- P38 Range Rover Autobiography RRS 2.7 HSE Silver RRS TDV8 HSE silver FFRR Vogue black Disco3 HSE silver RRS 2.7 HSE silver RRS 3.0 HSE BALTI BLUE ______________________________ current vehicles RRS 3.0 L494 Autobiography Audi R8 V10 Spyder AC Cobra Landrover Defender 90 Landrover Defender 110 Suzuki Jimney |

Sport, I have never felt the need to disable my DSC so cannot tell you - we don't have too much suitable sand round where I life to need to test it out! If you have no light then the DSC is active, it only comes on once the DSC has been turned off, BUT whether it does this when you select sand mode I don't know. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

.....but it does. Switching to sport mode makes all difference in a diesel. Dialling up sand gives it plenty more off the mark. Take your point on getting it chipped though. RRS TDV6 Bluetooth, VR, Roof |

one more point.....if we can get better response out of it in sand mode, why don't LR just use the same program for normal mode minus all the mods to DSC, ABS, Transm, etc??? Mine is very noticeable. RRS TDV6 Bluetooth, VR, Roof

I've just retured from a LR Experience centre and they that sand mode could be used for occasional use on the road where it was necessary to get a quick initial getaway.
