Key Shenanigans

OK, so after accidentally putting my key through the wash and scaring myself silly, thought I had better get the spare working. After reading about charging it up etc, drove around this morning with it next to the working one. I also saw about trying to start car with working key next to spare in the ignition. Anyway nothing works?

My spare key will lock/unlock the car with the fob - as normal. However, when you put it in the barrel, other than realizing there is a key in the ignition if the door is open, it won't even turn in the barrel. Looking at the key, I cannot see any differences in the actual key between the working and non-working, so I'm a bit surprised.

Is this the action of when a key needs coding? I would have thought it would have least of turned in the barrel.

I have an IID tool if it needs coding.

The key should still turn just like a traditional key.

Holy thread resurrection Puff!

Second key has never been a priority for me but I found it the other day moving house and it ended up with the key I use. I decided to try it again, so took them both out. Second key unlocked the car fine Thumbs Up It goes in the ignition and then won't turn Crying or Very sad However, if I put the other fib next to it, it works fine! So therefore it must have become unprogrammed for the car!

I have an IID tool - how do I match the second key to the car?
