2007 2.7 RRS Gearbox Oil & Pan Change

Hi,

New to the forum having purchased a nice dog car RRS for plodding around the Lake District with the spaniel. Absolutely love the old girl already and got the bug.

Bought the car due to the excellent history and immediately went about changing the engine oil, filter, air and pollen filters, fuel filter and had my mechanic do the transfer box fluid and air suspension reservoir (had the orange light on when I bought it).

He’s owned a disco 3 and 2 x disco 4s in the past so I also bought the genuine ZF gearbox oil and filter kit for lrparts and asked him to fit. When he got to it he was concerned that the unit in the middle of the active anti roll bar (not present on his disco’s) looked like it was blocking access to some of the sump nuts. He was worried about getting it back together if he dropped the oil out.

I’m sure I’ve read on a forum that there is a method to doing this and it was a bit fiddly but do-able. I have searched here and also Google but seem to have drawn a blank. Can anyone please offer any advice or a link so I can discuss with him? Alternatively any recommended specialists in the Lakes that people have used, doesn’t look like much about apart from main dealers. Any advice would be much appreciated!

So just an update. Spoke to a different local garage who advised that the ARB needs to be unbolted and moved slightly to get at the sump bolts. Also recommended doing the bushes whilst on with it.

Advised 5hrs Labour, so £250 all in. Does this sound about right with me supplying parts, or keep looking for other Indy’s?

You don't need to touch the ARB, bolts or clamps to replace the sump Thumbs Up

Ok cheers will try another garage. Guess it shouldn’t be 5 hours labour then. Thought it seemed a bit steep as I’ve heard of people paying £350 including parts!
