275/50/20 Tyres

Hi.
My 2013 RRS L320 is almost due for some new tyres. I'm currently running General Grabbers 275/40/20 however am considering Pirelli Scorpion ATR's 275/50/20 as a replacement.
Is anyone able to tell me if :-

(a) will be there any problems re rubbing or scuffing on the body parts
(b) will that size tyre fit in the wheel well?
and
(c) are any other problems I may encounter by going up to a 50 series profile?

Appreciate any feedback.

Many thanks,
Lew.

I'm running 275/45 x 21" Wheel/Tyree combination, according to various Tyre/Wheel comparison sites that makes them 781mm diameter, the size you mentioned would be 783mm diam. I don't really think the extra 2mm is going to make much difference. I have been running the 21's for nearly 6 years at least and never had any problems, I even lowered the suspension slightly as well. I fitted a full size 275/45 x 21 rim with a brand new tyre in the spare wheel space and it was very tight and needed a little work with a dremel to smooth some welds off, a easier option may be to get hold of a spare rim with a half worn tyre as it's only a spare, which may make it a little easier to fit in the space I would think. Not sure if the ATR's would be slightly lager diam. though as I am running Pirelli Scorpion Verde all season or something like that.

Cheers
Col

Thanks Col. Your experience leads me to think that a 275/50/20 might be the way to go for me.

My current 'spare' is a 255/50/19, factory fitted from new, but I also keep a 5th wheel and tyre to match the road wheels in the shed, which I rotate regularly with the other 4 road wheels. The 'spare' on the car is only for emergencies which should still suffice if I go for the 275/50/20 combo. I only swap it with the matching road wheel kept in the shed when I venture out and about.

Cheers,
Lew.
