Picture shows what rails and cross bars for the RRS1 2005-2013 look like, although this is a aftermarket kit it is virtually identical to the genuine L/R kit for the RRS1.

Col any ideas what the locks are like on these rails? The keys look pretty basic which got me thinking if they’re all the same and how easy it could be to steal them, Anyone had theres stolen and any ideas to prevent theft? |

Never looked at the locks in any great detail, as you say just look like a basic key and barrel, never thought about anybody wanting to steal them, if somebody really wanted to a screwdriver would probably suffice though. Not really sure how you would make them more secure, I don't recall ever hearing of anyone having them stolen, but that doesn't mean they haven't, always possible I guess.

Not heard any stories either so that’s reassuring, I think the main worry is the box or what ever is on top when you park the vehicle up would they steal the everything and this is the world we live in now, Someones trying to rob just about anything these days you think of locking everything as much as possible. |

I bought this, just because I couldn't find any bars anywhere. The rails looked good quality and I sold them on. The bars appeared good quality at first look, but whilst trying to fit them for the first time, were found to be made of cheese. They didn't fit into the rails on my car and the plastic on the feet was so easily damaged that there was no hope of getting them to fit. I have been looking for bars ever since. Thule don't even list anything on their site unless you have a plain roof. Living in Norway doesn't help, as when I do find companies that supply, they won't ship here or it is tooo expensive. |

Thule do a system that works in the T track, for my D4 it’s foot pack 753 and fitting kit 183027 (just bought these so fresh in my mind).

try roofracks.co.uk - got all my Thule kit from there including a Thule XL roof box. It was a tight fit with space to open the boot without hitting the back of the box (I actually didn't set it back enough initially and ended up scratching my spoiler). I’ve got the above that Col pictured and it’s been fine and don’t have any problems taking the bars on/off. I got our roof box from the roof box company and it came with U fittings or T pieces. The only negative thing is that they’re a bit prone to sun bleaching but it’s to be expected and I have put any preventative product on them. Overall very pleased and well used. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue. |

I'm not recommending that paticular kit, I just used the picture as a example for the O.P and can't comment on the quality, personaly I have only ever bought genuine L/R one's pricey but at least they fit. Cheers Col |

Does anyone know if you can fit Thule bike clamps to the genuine LR roof bars? |
