Misbuild - now waiting for MY22 to open March 1st

Ordered a new HSE silver D300 in black just before Xmas for March first delivery. Dealer proudly sent over a video of the new car last Thursday which looked amazing - only issue is it was missing the 3rd row seats we ordered. Was offered a lovely red autobiography SDV6 7 seater with stupid amounts of options (rear screen entertainment, tow bar, massage seats, adaptive cruise, 360 camera etc) instead at a huge discount but decided against it as didn’t like the Ivory seats (3 kids, not likely to be a great combo) and was also worried by the fact the SDV6 might devalue faster than the new inline 6s and lack of the new S5 rated tracker. Did I do the right thing?
I am now going to have to wait until the UK orders for MY22 start up again on March 1st but dealer has no idea what the changes are between current 21.5MY and 22MY...might be lucky to get it before the end of may now!

We ordered at the end of January and have been quoted a late-May delivery date. It does however have to be shipped to Australia.

Did you do the right thing? Hard one! If you are intending to keep the car tor a reasonable period, then I suspect the depreciation for the AB, versus the newer one, may not be that much different. Financially, you may even come out ahead because you are getting a very up-specced AB at a seemingly great price.

If you cannot live with ivory (and i could not), then you have made the right call.

I am intrigued about your MY22 comment. Does that info come from a reputable source? Does it mean that cars built after March will be MY22? MY21.5 HSE 221KW D16

In the uk my21.5 was the release of the inline 6 diesels and silver/black special editions. Try the LR Rockar website, new factory orders are now MY2022

It seems Dealers will get an internal bulletin at the end of this week advising on any changes just before order books open. I am not expecting much giving big engine changes were announced last year. Likely to be colour/spec combination changes ie D300 not available for HSE spec (only D250). Probably price rises too....

JLR wrote an official response to me for MY22 models.

It just tyre repair kit to all cars now. No space saver wheel to all engine type and trim type now regardless.

So be run flats for all RRS now.

Regard

Jason

No spare wheel on a vehicle supposedly designed to be a fully capable off road vehicle?

Well, that places the limit on second hand users who want to use them off road as the end of the MY21 then. After that they're town and motorway cars only. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

That sort of gels with the CEO’s announcement video, ie the one speaking about taking JLR all-electric. The language was all about luxury. I cannot recall any mention of “toughness”, off-road capability, etc. It seems to suggest he wants to reposition the brand as luxury, boulevard cruisers. Sad. That are plenty of other choices in that space.

Glad we got in with a MY21.5 order. It seems it was a close run thing. MY21.5 HSE 221KW D16

The new UK price list shows that spare wheels are still available (both reduced section and full size) but the reduced section wheel is now a cost option (may be different in other markets). Current: 2020 P400e HSE Dynamic

Well I'm glad that my (on order) MY21.5 will still come with a 5th wheel. I've had runflats in my last 3 cars and on one occasion got a fully deflated puncture 150 miles from home. The tyre would hold no air, though as a runflat I could use it in theory. I used it to drive to the nearest tyre dealer and then spent most of the day parked up while they sourced me a replacement tyre. current: RRS HST P400 engine ( 2021) Hakuba silver

I had a similar experience. Had to drive home at <80km/hr. Quite scary on a freeway with a speed limit of 110km/hr, with even Double-Bs closing at 30+km/hr. No hope of getting a run flat replacement in the country inside 2 or 3 days, and it was Sunday, and both of us had to be at work the following day. So, after 3 X5s, I too have gone to RRS, and the security of a full size spare.

Run Flats and/or space savers are the most ill conceived idea possible on cars that will be travelling long distances and/or off the beaten track. I now spend most of the winter in the mountains. Get a flat up there, especially on a day when snow chains are required, what do you do without a full size spare? What about cars that have a space saver… where do you put the possibly dirty/wet flat tyre, because it will not typically fit in the space occupied by the spare? What if you already have a boot full of luggage? Ask your wife to hold it while you drive home? Rolling with laughter MY21.5 HSE 221KW D16

Confirmed - changes are basically all models now come with power boot but gesture open is a option on all now. Space saver wheel is an option (not on 7 seater). Few other very minor adjustments to do with USB ports.LR dashcam now an option.

Hi mate, when you order yours as I placed an order back in November 21, but got a email about the cancelled build when they stop taking the order and a day latest dealer told me the build date moved to 1-3-22. Hope to pick the car up in the middle of March.

If the ne model comes with a repair kit,,the it won’t be having runflats,,any vehicle with runflats has nothing to repair the tyre.Plus it’s a terrible ride with runflats,I’ve had loads of customers buy beemers & mini’s with runflats & within 6 months of ownership they have come to me & had them taken off & fitted none runflats. Andy.

Out of interest, Tyrefitter, what’s your professional view of the ‘self sealing’ tyres that LR now offers on some models? Are they worth considering? Current: 2020 P400e HSE Dynamic
