Its like all cars - a lottery Very Happy

I've had my TDV6 for 80,000 & nearly 9 years. 2 compressors, couple of rear callipers, quite a few front wheel bearings, front & rear arms & other bushes, front & rear ARC bar, brake pipes, MAF and other things through wear/tear. All in all, pretty reliable for a 14 year old car with 170k. I've had it regularly serviced and it's had a gearbox flush +EGR blank/remap.

Absolutely! Laughing

If I was ruled by my head then I'd buy a Ford Mondeo. But the RRS is my hobby and there's nothing to beat the feeling climbing in and driving off. Walking across the car park to get back to it, it just feels good. There are plenty of other big 4x4s out there and some would perform better than mine for me in terms of economy and reliability especially when you consider that I rarely use the full off road capability of the RRS. But I know it there if I want it. I may be wrong but I get the feeling that if I see another make 4x4 coming towards me I feel that they are thinking, "bet that costs him a lot and is always breaking down". However they are also thinking "Hmm, wish I'd got one of them". It a bit like owning a Maclaren (not that I ever have). Because you know its extremely fast, there's no need to prove it all the time. just occasionally to know that its got it if you want it...

I could be talking out of my bum a bit here - lockdown does that to a person, doesn't it? Shocked Laughing Robin

Agree with above. If logic applied a Fiesta can do everything I use mine for, but every time I look out my window at the RRS I smile inwardly. There are a few others that would do the same but way out of my league. I'm also a bit patriotic and a German or Japanese equivalent just wouldn't feel right, despite some aspects of performance or equipment being better. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

I must admit that this has also been my thinking over that last few years. We are lucky to have some wonderful cars being designed and made in Blighty! I came into RRS ownership on the back of many years of BMW ownership, and I still love them, but I can honestly say that I have not felt that I have spent anymore on the RRS than any of then BM's, I've also kept it longer than any of the BM's, which tells it's own tale. JD Power tell me that Jaguar are consistently more reliable than the big German brands, yet where I live is like a BWM/Mercedes/Audi car park. Rolling Eyes

There seems to be quite a wide variety of options based on members comments on this forum. It would certainly be worth checking out A-Plan - a sponsor on here. I've just changed from Aviva where they wanted £380 for the year to Marks and Spencer, where they are charging me £308 (with a voucher for M&S!). I'd avoid Direct Line as their underwriters seem to insist that if you mention "Range Rover", then you must have a sophisticated Tracker. Obviously if you have the relevant tracker, then give them a try.

It would be good if you filled in your profile so that we know you exact model. Robin
