Heated Windscreen

First winter with the car and now its a bit frosty in the mornings I was wondering about the heated windscreen. How long should it take to remove frost?
OK, I appreciate that a lot depends on outside temp/frost thickness etc but my only other experience of a heated screen was many years ago with a Ford Sierra, I remember it working very quickly indeed. The RRS seems to take a very long time in comparison.
Is that just the way it is? RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

My 2012 heats in minutes, you can feel the temperature difference on the glass after a minute, and see the lines up the screen where it is de icing, but usually I just use the pre heat. MY12 RRS HSE
