Well at the very least there will be a lip on inside of the drum.

I know it sounds odd, but you will get a lip on a used disc.

Strangely enough just in the process of changing my MY13 rear discs and park brake shoes etc. followed Bodsys Brake Bible to the letter and it was spot on, just backed the adjuster right off through the hole in the disc, quick smack with a dead blow hammer and disc dropped straight off, only small lip on the drum bit and think that is mainly rust scale not wear. The pain bit looks to be the "bedding in" process for the new shoes/discs. The park brake will not engage automatically when switching ignition off unless it has been activated that way in the CCF files, but if you remove the EBC fuse in the engine bay fuse box it isolates it anyway.

When I replaced my rear discs, I remember I had to back off the adjuster. I also followed Bodsy's bible and it was spot on Kev

Kev, how did you get on bedding the shoes in as suggests need to do that even if you fit just new discs, or did you not really bother? and just settle for the adjustment.

In the normal operating position the brake shoes are right up on the drum to ensure full activation when applied - this may mean the shoes can touch the drum causing wear. Likewise dirt in the drum will grind away at the drum causing wear. Likewise using the drive through function to release the park brake will cause wear as the auto brake release function has a little lag with the vehicle attempting to move before the brake being fully released.
