Hi guys,

New to the site having not long bought a 2010 RRS HSE. Absolutely love the car!

That being said, out of the blue today, i have noticed that the drivers side wing mirror, which folds in or out when the car is locked or unlocked, has decided it no longer wants to move fully open. When unlocking it moves outwards slightly but not fully. Then, when locking, it returns back to its normal position. The motor is working and like i say, its moving the mirror to some extent but not fully as it has been. To my knowledge it hasnt been knocked or manually pushed shut etc, it was working fine this morning and not now, typical!

Anyone know of any fixes or where to start with this?

As a first, cheap, fix, try squirting the internal mechanism with a silicone lubricant spray and gently working them in and out. Do not strain them, if they aren't moving don't push it.
Mine were the same, I could hear the motor working and they clicking, just struggling to open/close. Hopefully yours will be the same.

To get at the mechanism are you going at it through door card route or by taking out the mirror glass and going in behind there?

Neither!! Just do this.
With the mirror in the driving position stand by the door facing forward and grab the moving part of the mirror firmly with both hands. Then push forward firmly. There will be a “crack” and the mirror will move forward. While forward squirt the silicon lube in, best you have a can with a tube on it. Then pull the mirror back to the normal position. Repeat a few times but not the silicon.
That should fix it. I do it every now and again and it is an accepted way of lubricating them.

Thanks guys, managed to get a small squirty tube in there and give it a few squirts, now moving fully in both directions and seems to be quicker than before so must have been struggling for a while
