Afternoon All. Following on from my tailgate issue post. I have a 2013 L320 with a one piece powered tailgate. Strut came off the upper ball joint, drivers side. The spring clip is still there, it does go back on but is popping every now and then. There is nothing wrong with the strut and I can get replacement ball joints. Does anyone know where I can get the spring clips from?.

Cool. That'll certainly make for a good temporary fix. Cheers. |

I think that the problem you will find is that once the strut has come off once it will have slightly bent stem of the ball that attaches to the tailgate in the process. Hence it does not sit square next time you re-seat it and will keep popping off. I found this and only changing the screw-in balls will fix it. There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

You might have to buy a couple of the individual plastic type ball joints to get the clips as never seen them advertised seperate, various joints on fleabay for a couple of quid each, problem might be working out the size you need. L/R do the ball seperate but don't list the clip seperate it comes as part of the strut.
