Driver's Seat Removal

Hi,

I need to remove the driver's seat of my 05 RRS to replace a heated seat element. It has factory fit rear entertainment.

Has anyone done this and if so any tips? (For either removal of seat or replacing the elements). I intent to take the seat to an upholsterer to refit the leather covers.

Thanks,
Pete

Hopefully this may help others:
I identified the problem with my non-heated seat by buying new elements from LR and plugging them into the loom under the seat base prior to doing any seat removal.
Luckily once the new base element was the elements started to get warm, including the seat back. (They are wired in series so if one goes the other won't work). I say luckily as taking the seat back apart looks like it needs the whole seat out.
The seat base comes off by undoing 4 torx screws under the base and it then just lifts off the frame after unplugging the heated seat wires. I then unclipped the leather cover and cut the hog rings the hold the centre of the cover to the cushion.
The old element had burnt through itself underneath the seat stitching, it looks like something had been spilt on the seat and leaked through.
The new element, (£32), then just sticks on. I'll be taking the base and cover to an upholsterer tomorrow to get it refitted, as it's the same price as hog ring pliers and I know it will get done right and look good. He is also going to repair the slightly worn thigh bolster at the same time.
It's well worth eliminating which element is gone before taking your seat apart, or giving it to an upholsterer to do. I was quoted £100 +vat and I had to provide the elements...

My wife now has a warm bum again Very Happy
Upholsterer charged £25 to refit the base cover which isn't much more than a pair of hog ring pliers and it was done properly.

Do you have to remove the whole seat to get the seat base/cushion off?

Thank you

Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
