United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Cairns Blue

I suppose there is an argument that not everybody is a car person and wouldn’t have a clue down the line if that was how it left the factory. An enthusiast would probably know or find out Thumbs Up . 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

I work in insurance, where it's a non fault claim it shouldn't present much of an issue as the third party insurer will be the ones paying, strictly speaking, the third party insurers are supposed to put you in ''the same financial position you enjoyed immediately before the loss'' - meaning replacing them like for like (only if it's possible to get the parts in a reasonable time etc).

If the claim was your on fault and your own insurers were paying, it will present more of an issue. It all depends whether your current insurer would of accepted the policy in the first place if you disclosed the modifications - if they wouldn't of offered you a policy with the modifications, then they can stand to reject a claim and void a policy (but only if the non-disclosure was material to the loss, I.E if the modification has made a loss more likely to happen etc)

Hope this helps!

Nicely put miLord

If you've not declared your nice 22" wheels and you claim off your own insurer, expect them to only pay for OE 19"s

If the same undeclared 22" wheels caused the accident and you claim off your insurer then expect them to not pay at all

If those 22"s were damaged in a no fault accident, then the 3rdP insurer should take you in the position you were at when accident happened as LW says.

My RRS is an HSE, and had 20" wheels from new. It now has 21" but genuine LR items.

It also has a genuine Autobiography body kit.

I was asked when I first bought it if it had been modified, my answer was 'not to my knowledge'.

As it has genuine LR parts fitted which were an option when new, it is not modified.

Non genuine parts would be another matter however. 2010 3.6 TDV8 HSE (Gone)

My insurers have approved the claim but have said once the repairs are complete they will cancel the policy.

I reckon this will lead to approx £300 a year more to insure based on 1. Declaring the mods and 2. Having had a policy cancelled.

Lesson learnt!

And thanks to COVID I am still waiting to get her back. I have an Audi Q7 as a ‘temporary’ replacement but it’s no RRS!
