I went to 274/45R20 and the speedo is now only 2mph or so out, much closer than it was.. you might be lucky and find 275/50R20 is bob-on, depending on the tyre.. 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S |

Yep I think it has - only a 5% bump in profile but I also switched to Grabber AT3s and the ride is much more pleasant now. Maybe a little less suitable for chucking into corners (as a friend found out when he took us out for a spin - I thought we were going to end up in a hedge when he attempted to make it change direction like his Gallardo ), and no extra road noise that I can tell really. 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S |

I fitted 275/45 x 21" wheels and tyres a few years back which according to a couple of tyre size calculation websites is 2mm smaller overall diameter 781mm as opposed to 783mm for the 275/50 x 20. We have a lot of those road side digital cameras here and also outside schools, the speed flashed up on the camera is exactly the same speed as shown on the digital readout on the speedo so I don't think you have anything to worry about the speedo reading being to far out.
