Diesel vs Petrol

I notice quite a few on this forum drive the TDV8.
Is there a substantial difference on MPG the diesel gets over the petrol version?
How much extra does the diesel version cost, and is it worth the extra you pay initially for the diesel?
Here there is not much difference in cost between petrol or diesel.
There is a rumour that they will be exporting the diesel RRS to Canada in 2008.

One of the biggest advantages of buying a diesel over here is the resale prices when the time comes to change your car

How many of us lot (members of rrsport.co.uk) have a petrol powered RRS? and how does it compare to a diesel of the same spec (will be similar vehicle weights etc wont it?)

Ronnie - as discussed recently the new TDV8 engine seems to be fantastic and considering the mileage over the SC it's a no brainer to go for the TDV8. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Thanks. It seems i need to wise up a bit more to the specifications of RRSport if I'm going to be driving one soon, in the not so distant future. Twisted Evil Thumbs Up

Although in all fairness, i don't think i will be going for TDV8 SUPERCHARGED blah blah blah. I'm more into the workings and ability of a vehicle rather than jsut full on hard core performance. Add that to being a student and not having much money in any real terms it would make a world of sense for me to purchase a TDV6 is i can find on suited to a low budget such as mine. Ya dig? *cough* Do you see my point of veiw? However, if you like speed and performance, then each man to his own.
