2011 Range Rover Sport iPod connection

I've got a Bovee 1000 for use with my iPhone in my 2011 Range Rover Sport, besides this though, would it be okay to leave the iPod connector cable plugged into the car's iPod port without the battery on the car draining? It seems that with this Bovee 1000 unit plugged into the cable with the car off it still remains on, but would it still use power if not connected to the actual unit and just the cable?

New Zealand 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Santorini Black

Slightly different but I leave a old iPod 160gb classic connected to mine all the time and never had a issue, I think the socket actualy shuts down and goes to sleep same as usb and power sockets after short time with ignition off.

Cheers
Col
