Sometimes when I start the car and set off, or even mid-drive, the car rises to off road height automatically. And then gives me a warning a few seconds later saying the car will lower if speed is not decreased.

Is this normal?

quick answer is No.

take it you have Not selected a special program?
from memory Mud and ruts will go into off road height automatically and "suggest" you select Low box
only other auto off road height is if the car things you have grounded out, which may suggest a height sensor fault

Could be signs of a sticking EAS compressor exhaust valve. If it is, then it's a new EAS compressor, sadly, as the valve is not serviceable. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The EAS exhaust valve is serviceable - I have replaced mine and the parts are available on ebay and from other compressor parts suppliers. 07MY RRS TDV6
