Had a very similar issue on my MY13 recently with O/S rear door, new lock/catch sorted it.

Likewise - the first couple of times, the rear passenger could unlock it from the inside.. then that stopped working, too, and they had to climb over to the other side to get out New lock motor assembly fixed it. 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S |

Both rear actuators have been replaced on mine since I purchased it in September previous owner did one just before I collected it and I had the opposite side replaced about a month after I bought it, appears to be a very common failure. |
