There’s a couple of lovely owners examples in the for sale ads at the moment; maybe able to meet somewhere on price. You may have to travel for the right one too, over the years I have been all over the place. Sometimes limiting yourself to a certain are, although convenient, can restrict you and possibly end up with you buying something more for convenience than anything else.

I agree and I’ll take a look in Sales section as you recommend. I just missed out in a nice TDV8 08 in Swindon as couldn’t get there this week.. thus my thinking was to try to establish if I am overlooking an opening within say 100 miles from Newcastle. It was suggested I look at Green Oval Leeds and they have a TDV8 on an 08 with 126k miles serviced by them (formerly owned by their MD) but being sold on behalf of the current owner as a private sale. £10k seems more of a dealer valuation yet it’s a private sales. Looks in great shape.. mileage is high but I hear these TDV8’s can run on to much higher mileages. |

I had some conversations with the chap that owns this place, nice genuine guy, really helpful - https://www.jdtmotors.co.uk/ he also has some really good AT and Google reviews. Has a steady flow of LR cars so could be worth a call with your requirements in case he has anything coming in or can source for you.

Thanks all. Some great links. I had looked online at that RRS on sale with K A Car Sales as images show a sound service history with known LR independents. I just couldn’t find any real tangible links to the company which can be off-putting. Maybe I’m being too cautious. Do you know of any respectable companies that can come out to evaluate a car for sale? I think AA used to do it.. |

my advise is always to buy a Range Rover on condition. If it looks good inside and out, has all the service history and paperwork to back it up and everything works as it should, you won't go far wrong.

If you don't mind a wee trip just outside Edinburgh give Keith and Jon a look at Applecross Motors. They are a LR specialist and not only sell but have workshops for servicing and repairs. |

Stu - good advice thanks. I’ve seen a few around the 125k mileage Mark with excellent history and look like new on 2008 plates but what I’m interested to know is whether it is realistic to think I can go beyond 150k on a TDV8 without too many gremlins arising. What is your view? |

Sorry been busy all weekend! Yes I don’t see any reason why a well maintained 3.6 can’t do big miles. There are a few people on the forum with high mileage cars. Of course anything can happen at anytime to any car! There are plenty of smaller engined cars with moon miles on them running round. These cars are full of complicated systems that can go wrong at anytime! I’ve always had Range Rovers because I love them and you should always have a few quid put aside for repairs. Current: 2010 RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE

The best advice for a TDV8 is lots of regular oil and filter changes and good quality oil I do mine every 5k.
