Hoping for winter driving conditions

Well it looks like I'm taking one of my road trips for work again next week. This is one of the reasons why I bought such a comfortable and capable car. It has got me home no matter what the weather throws at me, from closed snow bound motorways to flooded roads it has never let me down.

Rain, high winds and floods might be more of a risk than snow, although last weekend I was off-roading up at 200m and we were above the snow line, but it was only thin wet snow and it was freezing. Forecast for tonight is for just below zero in most rural parts of Scotland but then is just damp/wet as next weekend approaches.
If you have the BBC Weather app you can search for the weather at places you are likely to visit - it isn’t the most accurate forecast available. The Accuweather is much better for predicting when you will get precipitation . I was out on the A84 at 0800 last Sunday and the council had gritted the road but it then poured with rain all day!
Be prepared for slow moving traffic around Perth on the A9 at the moment due to extensive roadworks. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I don’t envy that A9 journey, I spent 18 months going up and down that road from Lincs to Elgin. Thank god I didn’t drive a 5.0 V8 back then. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

One time in France driving from Nancy to Calais it was weather like this. All traffic was stuck beetling up the slow lane with the overtaking lane empty, carpeted in a nice thick layer of untrodden snow. Our RRS was 4 weeks old but I thought I’d give it a try and hopped over to the untrodden lane... no issues! Next thing I know I’m cutting a new path north leading a trail of cars, overtaking the white knuckled ditherers. Thumbs Up L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Did the NC500 earlier this year but included Orkney and Shetland and loved every minute of it, from door to door totalled just over 2000 miles but i would do it again any day. Mind you i think it might be the inner and outer Hebrides first as i do have a soft spot for the islands.
