2006 RR Sport temp gauge issue.

Hi guys. Seems my 2006 RRsport has hit that time when things start to fail. Last month was the suspension pump and a seized caliper. This month was steering which I thought was the pump as it was really notching. But turned out to be the steering knuckle. It was free one way but totally seized the other. (If that makes sense). Last week it was the temp gauge. And it’s this I’m lost on. So any help or opinions would be great.

When I start the car up the temp gets up the the normal place on the gauge. But then if I cruise it drops right down to nothing. So I thought gotta be the thermostat. Changed that but still not fixed. With a new thermostat I thought gotta be the temp sensor. So changed that. But still doing it.

So I’m not sure what to do now. Is there a second thermostat or sensor I’m missing ?? The only other thing I can think of is the water pump but I’m clutching at straws with that idea.

What do you guys think ??

Cheers

There is an oil temp sensor which does effect the gauge
But not sure it’s worth changing unless it’s due an oil change

I’ll give that a go if it works. As when the temp falls to zero it’s as if the car thinks it’s stone cold and revs a little higher at idle to warm it up. I didn’t realise that the oil temp sensor could have an effect on the water temp. These cars are always a learning curve Laughing

Is there only the one oil temp sensor ?? Or is there a couple ??
