Switch everything off and leave car for few minute's for everything to power down, then just remove battery as normal i.e disconnect neg first, battery is a bit heavy and awkward to lift out but not a major problem. Refitting is reversal of removing. If you have a sunroof you will have to reset one touch closure same with the windows but simple enough. Date on dash may default to something else and need resetting, the Satnav may also default to Belgium but just reset it, not sure on that one though. That's it nothing difficult or complicated.

This is what I did as I did not want to be resetting anything. I connected a set of jump leads to under bonnet charging points & connected them to the new battery on the ground. Disconnected old battery & removed it. Connected another set of jump leads to the first set & connected to the old battery. Removed the jump leads connected to the new battery & fitted it to the car. Disconnected the jump leads from under bonnet points. Finished, power always to the car, no resetting.

Easier to sit in drivers seat and press a couple of buttons for a few seconds surely.

Not really, connecting up a set of jump leads only takes a few seconds, everything else is the same |

That's how my local battery place does it, he uses a tiny 12 volt battery.

Slightly more difficult on a RRS1 as no charging points under the bonnet to connect jump leads to.

When I changed the battery on my 494 I just loosened everything ready to whip the leads off and then started the engine and left it running while I swapped the batteries round. Alternator provides enough power to run everything and no settings are lost. 2013 L494 5.0 SC in Chile Red |

I just changed my battery over the weekend and did it as normal! unlocked car, pulled bonnet lever, neg off, poss off, battery out, battery in, connect up, start engine....everything ok.. Current: 2010 RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE

Are you saying you did not need to reset the one touch window switch operation or the date default to 2009?

@ Col....ok mate yes, I really meant no problems from changing the battery as you normally would on a car. Current: 2010 RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE
