Evening all my wife has lost the key to my rrs 2005 down the toilet in a pub and was flushed ( don't ask) has anyone had to go down the route of replacing a new key any comments would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards. Mark ps trying to avoid dealership

Lost keys are sometimes covered by Insurance policy, have a check of wording or phone them.
A LR dealership should be able to do replacement key for you, as long as original locks etc are still fitted, unfortunately it won't be cheap either, but still, also get a spare.  John

I got a quote from LR for about £300 for a replacement key for my 2005 RRS. This involved me having to go there with ID and proof of ownership then go back 2 weeks later to collect the key!

In the end I spoke a local locksmith who came out and cut and programmed the key in about 1 hour for £185.

It’s not cheap but it was a lot cheaper than LR!!!

Or as mentioned before check your insurance for lost key cover.

Keys being cut can be done elsewhere, it depends on how much electronics also included in key fob, (car year dependant) some don’t have a key (except emergency key) jut fob which only JLR can duplicate, and cannot be done elsewhere. John

You should be able to pick a key/keys up from ebay as yours is a 2005 and if you have a IID tool program them and then get a lock smith to cut them to the car

just had a spare cut and programmed for £120.00

I bought one for £40 from a locksmith in Yorkshire. Someone on here I believe.
Then got Bodsy to programme it for another £40.
So new key £80 total.
Cant grumble at that..

morning all just a quick update on the lost key (flushed down toilet) I got in contact with a guy called nick from ross on wye came out same day new key and programmed to the car £180 all in. if anyone wants his contacts please pm me works in around Herefordshire and surrounding areas.

It’s been a while since my last post. I am currently travelling with my dog and we drove all over Europe and decided to pop in to see my parents Unfortunately, the battery died and I cannot find the emergency key. It broke away from the original key when the battery died long time ago and I pushed it in the wrong direction a bit too hard when I tried to open the door. I put it somewhere and I just cannot find it anymore. I repeat, we are not in the U.K. at the moment. Every day I check on the car I can see the suspension is getting lower and lower

What the hell do I do? Please help!!!
