For that, you get a genuine LR recon lump with a 2 year, unlimited mile warranty Thumbs Up

Given that a 2.7 engine has come down to £4095 + VAT, we live in hope that the 3.0 will also be a bit cheaper in the not too distant Laughing

If LR can supply a recon motor for you to fit in to the car in your quote of £9.5k what on earth are dealers doing for the extra £12.5k

all the best

I’m not sure what the hourly rate is, but Guy Salmon quoted me for two hours to diagnose a small leak last week, £360 plus vat!

Luckily the approved warranty covered it and it was only a gearbox sump plug gasket! Mad for what is essentially 10p worth of metal gasket Shocked Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

It’s not two chassis on the l494 like the older style or disco 3 or 4 Joined the X5 45e club

Subframe down, or put the front

Subframe bolt v Alu body scares the bejesus out of me. Out the front is the method of choice Thumbs Up

No you don't. If the dealer orders a recon, they get delivered a recon

If they order a recon, and thats not available, they get a brand new lump, same as anyone else who orders a replacement engine Thumbs Up

Do Land Rover really recondition old motors? I find it hard to believe that they are in that business, I've toured their factories several times and never seen anywhere it takes place. A new motor can't cost more than £4/5k to produce.

JLR don't, they are done under contract

I forget who does them, but they don't sell to trade, only to the manufacturer

Thank you & Dave, I have asked as i really want an RRS and I am not shy with a spanner. My thought process was if the worst happen can i tackle it without a ramp.

Does anyone know what contributes to this aswell? I know the bearing design is cause but does servicing have any contributions especially with the oil dilution. Is there anyway to prevent other than changing the oil every so often rather than sticking to LR's schedule.
