Warranty Knock Back - Dynamic Suspension Failure 2014 L494

Pipe assembly valve block leak in 2014 Dynamic suspension....

Warranty knocked back on the basis that the pipes have corroded.... Corrosion is not covered... £2,500

Thing is, the pipe is a little corroded (as pictured), but its more like the connection piece. The mechanic suggests replacing the whole pipe run from the reservoir to the ARB cylinder.

Thoughts? Help! Suggestions appreciated. Having just spent £850 on a warranty extension (I kinda thought i was covered).

Edit : Odd - corrosion is not excluded from the policy.
https://landrover-extendedwarranty-extend-...cument.pdf

My plan? MOT it. It will fail. Then they fix it under warranty?

Corrosion is mentioned 3 times in the policy documents.

Page 27 : MOT Insurance
- Corrosion is INCLUDED

Steering wheel for cracks or fractures.

Seriously, the level of cover vs price is so poor compared to Warranty Direct (and probably other providers) that include wear n tear and such. So I don't know why people buy the LR warranty, I must be missing something.

If a good moan doesn't resolve then potentially pursuing a mis-selling route is an option, or at least the threat of it, for example if in the sales process you were led to believe all was covered. Not sure about Scottish law, but consumers are not expected to read & understand every word of a multi-page terms & conditions document in many circumstances.

Very disappointing situation, sorry you are going through this. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

They are a third party insurance company so expect them to do what they can to not pay.

Claiming "corrosion" is a bit off, however, for anything thst hangs in the elements under the car. It will have some corrosion on it within months of leaving the factory.

Talk to the ombudsman if the warranty won't budge. Unfair terms get the ombudsman's back up. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks chaps...

Interesting its a £2,5k repair at a land rover dealer and £1.2k at my local indie.

Trusted indie (Strathearn Engineering) reckons the pipes can and do corrode / leak (therefore perhaps not just the connections). Amazes me one could fit pipes that corrode in less than 5 years to leak through the metal of the pipe.

Might be interesting to have a thread on warranty claim knock backs. 2022 P440e AB

Sent cars back under warranty for brake pipe and ARC pipe leaks. They seem to have made them even worse than the previous generation model Rolling Eyes

40% goodwill offered from JLR. Original quote £2500.
- to replace the corroded ARC pipes on the dynamic system. On a LR Extended warranty that includes no such exclusion.

Can’t say I’m impressed. 2022 P440e AB

Hi,

I've got a RRS 2014, with extended LR warranty, suspension fault light came on at weekend. I've taken it local LR garage and they have advised pipes are corroded and quoting £2.5k to repair plus VAT.

They've said it's not covered under extended warranty.

only had the car a year, so the car comes with the 2 year LR warranty, was told it covers pretty much everything apart from the normal wear and tear, such as brakes, tyres etc. I wouldn't have expected a 5 year old car having this issue

My brake pipes are covered under MoT warranty but didn't want to risk them till march when MoT is due so I replaced them myself. Andy.

Same for me. Get LR to do a goodwill jesture. And we’ll do a joint complaint to the ombudsman.

Nothing in the documentation excludes corrosion.

Take it for an mot. There’s 700 right there for failure. I threatened that before I got the goodwill. 2022 P440e AB

happy to do a joint complaint. I'll pm you my details.

I'm at work, so haven't had a look at the paperwork, but I assume the 2 year warranty that came from LR will be the same at their extended warranty.

I see people say take the car for an MOt for the corroded ACE system pipes due to warranty not covering them. Why is this?
