Down, they become obsolete and difficult to maintain long term. Remaining vehicles will have to be sold off cheap by dealers. How many of these cars actually go off road, they would sell far more if they built the same type of cars, but without all the fancy off road stuff.

They did make a 2wd FL2 and Evoque. I think it was a way of helping them achieve their fleet emissions limits. 2wd obviously uses less fuel and so creates fewer emissions. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

They still make 2WD versions of the DiscoSport and Evoque, even the 4WD versions run in 2WD above 28mph so are they 4WD or not.......... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I didn't know any of that, I just imagine what my RRS would be like without a couple of hundred kilos of wizardy I'll never use.

When I bought it is was a choice between that and an XF estate, but a truck super single wheel and tyre didn't fit in the boot of the XF.

Now I've got a Disco Commercial for work, changing the RRS for something else is still hard to justify given the money I've spent on it and more importantly, the smile it puts on my face when driving it.

I think a FWD RRS would be horrible, to be honest. And entirely pointless, really, as you can get much better FWD estate cars that have more room inside, handle better, use less fuel, etc.

Cor, imagine the power understeer you'd get with a heavy, high mounted V6 chucking 250 bhp through the front wheels.

And as for the scrabbling of front tyres out of tight corners. You'd be swapping rubber every 10k miles.

Going back to the original question, I think that JLR would be bailed out by the taxpayer because it is a big British brand, it manufactures in the UK, there is a significant supply chain in the UK, and there are lots of British jobs dependent on it. A bailout probably wouldn't save everything, though.
