dash dead and no electrics

hi,

while away on business this week my wife drove my L320 - parked the car Weds evening and when attempting to start Friday the car was dead. No lights on dash, interior lights dead. No response from the car.

Battery is 3.5 years old. is it possible for a battery can fail so comprehensively or should i be looking somewhere else. I am no tech and dont have any testing equipment. Fuses|?

Alternator may have failed killing it.

Disconnect the battery first in this case.

AndyK I think you may be right.

Had a friend over who is a Tech - we treid jump starting and he quickly noticed the leads were heating up quickly - also sparked at negatove when attaching jump leads.

Conclusion is massive draw downstream of battery - first suspect the Altenator.
2010 model with 88k so perhaps it was time.

Will get my local indie out tomorrow to check.

Thanks all.
