Battery and fan

Hi, Has anyone fitted a dual battery and charging system to the First generation (l320) RRS, also changed from viscous fan to an electric one like Kenelowe

Dual battery with a split charge should be very easy to do on the early first generation L320 as the space for the second battery is already there with nothing in the way like the later facelift cars.
Believe you will also need a left hand drive battery clamp that can be brought from Land Rover.

You best bet is to become a member of Disco3.co.uk which is the sister site to here and use the search facility for split charge systems and 2nd battery installations as it’s exactly the same as early sports Thumbs Up

Why would you want an electric fan?

If you haven't already figured it out, the space for the second battery mentioned by Buckster is adjacent to the brake master cylinder. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

You already have an electric viscous fan, speed controlled by ecm.

On one of my P38's I've built in a thermostat to engage the the aircon fans when viscous struggle, but on the RRS LR have done the job from factory, although in the same fan, why would you need more? is it the blistering hot weather i Scotland Cool

Thought it would benefit, but learned that they already have so can scrap that idea.

You should download the workshop manual, if curious about stuff and DIY minded.

can't remember where, but it's on the forum and some members have it in their signature to grab
