19.5 v 20 SVR

Hi everyone,

I'm after some advice please.

I have a 19.5 SVR on order- I'm still to get to the build changes cut off date and recently went in to my dealer for a catch up and raise a few queries.

So as most will know the configurator has changed to MY20 so RRP as well as certain options have gone up in price. The changes for SVR are minimal so wasn't worried about continuing to proceed with MY19.5 with the protected price. There's one catch however, they have added secure tracker pro which at £200 is a very wise thing to go for. I'm under the impression this is a cat s5 tracker so goes down well with insurance companies.

My dealer on the day said it shouldn't be a problem to put this on my MY19.5, now they've decided it can only go on a MY20 with the added bonus of the MY20 price increase!!!

I'm feeling like this is a high price to pay for a security feature that's let's be honest should be standard anyway.

This for me is a major purchase, not done anything close to this so really want to get it right and not get shafted unnecessarily!

What cards have I got to play if any?

Thanks

Not saying this will work, but call their bluff & tell them if they don’t fit the tracker you’ll cancel the order & go elsewhere. As far as I know the tracker comes fitted as standard on all L494.Im not to sure about the S5 but I’m sure they have the cat6.mine has the cat6 but when I called tracker to transfer my subscription from my SC Tracker said they cannot find the details on their system for my new one & id have to have a new system fitted by them, which I’m not as my insurance hasn’t asked for a tracker fitting & if the car goes missing I don’t want it back as I have gap insurance to cover it. Andy.

Hi Andy

The call their bluff idea has come to mind but I’m keeping that as a last resort option. Yeh so like you say all 494s are fitted with the secure tracker but I’ve noticed a substantial improvement in insurance premiums if the s5 spec tracker is fitted (secure tracker pro).

I just can’t believe Land Rover won’t fit the pro to the 19.5, if it was an unnecessary luxury item I’d understand them sticking to their guns but not something that should standard anyway.

Thanks

It could be that there is a software conflict between model years - this happened to me in 2014 when I took delivery of one of the first Evoques fitted with the then new In Control systems to find that 6 weeks later there was a new software update that couldn’t be applied to my car only to cars delivered 4weeks after mine......... there had been a hardware change between the March 2014 MY and the March 2014.5 MY.......... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I would suggest it cant be added to the MY19.5 so if you want it change your build to a MY20 and pay the extra £600 the car has gone up in price as you may save this in insurance and resale by having the newest model year ?

Having to carry the tags separate to the key isnt great though so unless you live in a high risk area is it worth it ? Or is it even worth the risk what if you attach it to your keys and the car is stolen will it void the insurance because the tracker you have insured it with isnt been used in the correct manner ?

Glad you got it sorted, what have you found to be the differences between the my20 and the my19.5? Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

Netsters,

Really nothing major, deletion of extra large washer bottle I can remember as I had spec’d that on the 19.5! Smartphone pack standard I think.

How are you finding yours out of interest? Did you spec 4 zone climate? I’ve stuck to 3 zone but have been doing some wondering as I have a week or two before final changes date.

Gesture pan roof blind removed I think also.

No big changes.

Sorry for the late response. I’m loving it. It is rewardingly fast, but has really civilised road manners when you want it to.
Equally it is a beast and the pops and crackles of the overrun on demand never gets old!

The ride is actually better than my previous MY16 AB and the car has all of the road presence of the full fat RR bit with all
The benefits of the sport.

I orderEd the 3 zone climate, as I found this to work for me. Only gripe o have is that my cooled front seats son’t cool nearly as week as my previous car if at all, not sure of this is a fault or a quirk of the SVR Seats? Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

Is that good ride the case for 22” rims or the standard 21”?
Is the extra large water bottle standard now or have they got rid of it?
I too have just ordered MY20 - can’t wait.
ESP for the pops and bangs 🤣

I would recommend the 22's from my personal experience.

Firstly, having been parked next to an SVR with 21 inch wheels on, the 22's definitely look right and have more presence without being over the top (IMHO

Secondly, my previous car was as 65 plate AB Sport, with factory 22's, and I have to say the ride quality in the SVR is actually more comfortable Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black
