Considering this as an upgrade, your thoughts please.

Hi all, my current drive is a 2006 2.7 HSE with 214k on the clock, no real issues but I'm looking to upgrade to a newer model, not by much due to budget but I'd appreciate your thoughts on this.

Overfinch have confirmed that its a genuine one, although they only asked for pictures to do this.

Cheers

Spain

I would be looking at Service history in detail. Is it a main dealer service history?
Accident damage

Then the big one
Warranty
Does it have a limit on each claim?
How long is it for?
Does it cover everything, including design issues/snapped cranks.

Remember a new engine will cost more than the car is worth. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Over priced for an SE with that mileage. That's all it is - an SE with some (ugly to me) external trim and Overfinch badges added. I'd rather have a clean, straight HSE with fewer miles for the same money. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

For that money you could get newer with less miles and more cylinders, Confused

I spy with my little eye...an Autobiography badge but it’s not. And the interior is standard in my opinion, not OF and not AB. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)
2012 5.0 SC AB. Sadly written off by a campervan

Thanks for your comments so far.

Externally I like the OF kit but acknowledge it's an SE internally.

I spotted the AB badge and thought why add that to an OF, not fooled by it.

As far as newer with more cylinders, I doubt I could afford to run a V8 TBH albeit I'd love one.

I'll be examining the service history and the provided warranty with a view to getting an upgrade on it should I pull the trigger on it.

Showing my ignorance here a bit but, does an OF come with a minimum degree of upgrades or is it literally spec'd to the customers request, body only, suspension, brakes, performance etc ?

Thanks again

I would hold out and watch for the new ads on autotrader.

We were lucky and got a 2011 with the 2012 trim/changes/upgrades 3.0 HSE Luxury pack for just over £13k. Full service history and 98,000 on the clock.

The email alerts from autotrader were useful as we could get straight onto any good deals that came up.

Good luck with the search Thumbs Up

Overfinch haven't done performance upgrades for years. Assuming the one you're looking at is an Overfinch, it'll be mechanically standard with some bung-on bumpers and big wheels. That one doesn't even have the dynamic response suspension that LR fit. The fact that it has an AB badge on it is also a worry. I wouldn't be surprised to find that it isn't even an Overfinch, to be honest.

You could get a nice TDV8 for that money. It'll go better, corner better, sound better, has no crank issues. Driven similarly, the fuel usage won't be massively different to the 3.0 TDV6, to be honest. The extra mid-range grunt means you don't need to work it as hard. Thumbs Up

Of course, if you want a pimped-up SE, go for it... Whistle 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Before you dismiss the V8s, they are worth researching. I bought the petrol supercharged and the running costs aren’t horrific if your only doing about 400 miles a month like I am. The servicing is a lot less than the Diesel (it surprised me when the independents actual charge was £200 less than his quote), as my quote was based on the TDV8 as the SC is rare in these parts and he didn’t know. So I find it cheaper to service, parts costs aren’t to different to the diesel, tax is the same, insurance is similar it’s just the overall cost of petrol. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

I won't profess to be clued up on recent sale prices on overfinch or even facelift L320 models.

Like you I have been running an ealier pre facelift L320.

Bear in mind that it's still 10 years old and at that age in an ideal world it will have had the ideal attention for a 10 year old L320. A full set of brake hoses and brake lines won't be cheap and if not already sorted should be considered as a future expense. Then there's the issue as to how fussy you will be underside fluids, tyres/brakes etc.

Visually it's a strong car in a good colour. It looks ok in the pictures but I have seen plenty of shiny pic cars that aren't so nice when viewed.

I find with trade sales it can be useful to do some online research for reviews and after sale experiences.

Thanks again for your comments, I viewed the car today and decided to walk away. Basically the SH was somewhat lacking, nothing other than oil service receipts for the last 4 years (40k) and it just had a few niggles and faults that for the money asked was too much.

I've since found this 2010 plate with 1 owner, full history and 71k, can I get your thoughts on it again. I've had a test drive and all was good with it Thumbs Up

I like the look of that.

Being a pre facelift owner I don't know if it has decent factory options but I note it has HK & seemingly heated steering wheel. I am sure you or others will know the standard and/or optional kit onn these.

As you know history and close up inspection plus driving it will tell you much more than the advert.

I think you were wise to walk from the overfinch.....amass me how many used RRS (often wirh bling or high spec) have poor history &/or lack of attention to additional maintenance records.

It looks good, nice colour combination, decent mileage and a one owner car. i bought my 2010 TDV8 58k miles privately 3 months ago for £12k so if they will include a warranty with it, that looks like a pretty reasonable deal to me. Good luck!

Looks ok, it is missing the roller parcel shelf which are about £120 to £150 second hand for some odd reason. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

If it is genuine 1 owner and FSH then that's a better bet. Mentions adaptive cruise control. That would have been an option. Make sure it works. If it doesn't, it stops cruise control working at all. Can be switched to normal cruise with an IID Tool or similar so not the end of the world. Also mentions adaptive headlights. These are great but make sure they work properly and don't point down at the floor. If they do, a whole new headlight is probably required.

Check to see if it has dynamic response (hydraulic antiroll bars) fitted. Also, see if it has dynamic mode on the Terrain Response dial. These are different things and both worth having. You can have the former without the latter but if it has dynamic mode on the dial then it's also going to have dynamic response. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
