Electronic parking brake in reverse??

I have an occasional odd issue. If I'm going forward down a slope, stop and reverse it appears as if a brake is applied that the releases as I apply my throttle on reverse. However , this only appears to happen if I am stopping on a slope and then reversing up an incline. Is this normal? On the flat there is no resistance at all in reverse.

Any suggestions (it's a MY2013 L320 5.0 Supercharged)

Thank you in advance There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

Could it not just be the effects of gravity, vehicle weight going forward downhill, you wanting it to go backwards so have to give it slightly more throttle which gives the impression of the brake initially sticking? Mine does a similar thing when I reverse over a slightly raised lip to reverse in my garage.

There is a definite something that is stopping movement as you can feel a release take place. There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

Is that not hill start assist? I can't say I've likely had cause to try it when reversing, but it does that, say at a junction on a hill when going forward, the brakes are applied for some time to hold the RRS until you drive. 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

Do you not have to switch the hdc on for that to activate though?

I've never activated it when at a junction on a hill, it just does it automatically. I've never actually used HDC other than a play/test, but when I could do with it I can never remember how to speed up/down so I feel safer not using it Embarassed 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

Show how much notice I take didn't even realise the RRS1 had hill start assist though it was all part of the HDC, just found this in the sales brochure. Laughing

This technology takes yet
another step forward with Gradient Acceleration Control and
Hill Start Assist. Gradient Acceleration Control is designed to
prevent situations where the vehicle might ‘run away’ on a steep
gradient (and Hill Descent Control has not been selected), allowing
the driver time to regain control. Hill Start Assist automatically
releases brake pressure progressively on a steep gradient and
helps prevent the vehicle from inadvertently rolling backwards.

I think Gradient Control was added at the facelift in 2010. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
