I would have no issue to use the 40 especially in warmer conditions. The bottom number is the important one as this is the start viscosity. We are often advised in Australia's warmer conditions to use a slightly higher viscosity rating. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW. |

I would never put anything other than the manufacturer specified oil in any car engine. The specification is there for a reason and they know what they are talking about. Anything else is a bad idea and/or a false economy. |

The workshop manual is quite clear. 5W30 913C or D spec only RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux

Oil flow is an intrinsic part of modern engine cooling.
