Is it possible to sell one of these god damn hunks of junk?

Sorry for the dramatic title..

Is it actually possible to sell RRS for a sensible price? I have a 2014 AutoBiog, Dealers will take it for thousands under priced, no interest when trying to sell at a price that means I’m not losing a stupid amount.

So has anyone ever sold one of these things for a good price? Or do I have to just swallow the fact I’m going to lose A LOT of money?

Wow, heck of a first post. Were you hoping to get people on side with that?

As others have said, without figures and details, there’s no way to respond.

Are you going to lose a lot of money selling an up-specced 4x4, from any manufacturer, back into the trade? Yes.

Is it difficult to sell a reasonably high value car privately for top dollar, without being able to offer trade ins, test drives, warranties, dealer security and finance? Damn right it is!

Are people currently buying cars? No, it’s pretty dire.

None of this is unique to Range Rovers.

Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black
Not just private sales and not just UK

Sales history:

I bought a 2017 V8SC in Fuji new in December 2017 on a run out deal. I got a huge discount. For various reasons, I sold it back to the same dealer for cash in October 2018, I lost a bit less than I thought, £28k.

The stealer put the car up for sale for £8k more than they gave me in November 2018 - no sale

In Jan 2019 they sprayed the wheels black (I hate sprayed black wheels) and dropped the price by £1k - no sale

In March, they took it off the market and used it for 1200km.

April, back on the market, roof now black (in Western Australia FFS) price now dropped £7k and what they gave me.

They have had it 5 months - still no sale yet. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

You will lose a lot of money on any car and you maybe paid over the odds in the first place. Have you looked at similar vehicles and their pricing keeping in mind that dealers have to make money so dealers will be at the top end of the price range. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Even low miles almost new ex-demo cars are not shifting off forecourts and if it is a diesel then all marques are not selling, dealership forecourts are awash with them hence they offer low prices as they don’t want to buy any more stock. So why would any London dealer want to buy a 2014 car that you describe as a “hunk of junk” when they have thousands of low miles hardly used cars that they could sell. This is what is termed “market forces”. The Mayor of London has also just ruined the chances of you selling a car that is non-Euro6 compliant from ever selling within 100 miles of Central London, that won’t be helping things either as all those cars will now be heading away from anywhere near London on the back of vehicle transporters to towns where there isn’t yet any emissions control zone and tat costs them plenty and will have to be factored into any price offered to you. Try selling the car well away from London, you might do better but a London driven 2014 car will not e in anywhere near the same condition as any car that has spent its life in a small village in other parts of the UK. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Expect to lose a BIG chunk of cash as soon as you buy these from a dealer,,ive just lost 17k in 17 month on a my14 SC AB,before that I lost 12k in 12 month on a my14 sdv6 AB,,your going to lose a k a month on these cars if not more.Ive tried selling mine on eBay & pistonheads But not one call or enquiry,,folk will go to a dealer & pay more for the piece of mind the car is genuine & you also get the 2 years LR approved warranty plus most that buy these vehicles want to finance them. When I’ve just purchased mine 3 weeks ago they were trying to push me into pcp at no deposit & £950 a month over 2 years,,I was tempted as it’s the same as what I’m going to lose on it but I’ve been brought up the old fashioned way of owning everything I have outright.Im lucky to be in a position we’re everything I own is paid for,,never had finance or a mortgage. Andy.

I won’t be getting another that’s a fact, it is paid for out right so I’m just going to sell it for what I can get. Put the cash in the bank/isa leave it a lone and then in 12 months time look at the cash, calculate how much more I would of lost keeping the RRS, an hopefully feel a bit better about things.

Isn’t this just a case of the same old story of buying more expensive cars?

Fact number 1. - Pointless looking at % residuals, loosing 30% from a £80k car is going to cost you more than loosing 60% from a £30k car.

Fact number 2. - If you don’t like loosing money don’t buy a modern car, particularly new

Have things gone wrong with the car or just unhappy with depreciation?

Only ever post to complain about the losses on buying a RRS?????
Most cars depreciate, my previous rrs sc I bought 3.5 years old, it lost over 50k of its value. I kept it for 7 years and it lost around 20k. If you don't like it, walk. MY12 RRS HSE
Gone 4.2 supercharged RRS
Gone 90
Gone s2000
