RRS P525 V8 SC - First Impressions...

From DangerMouse inspired, here my first impressions (incl. my experience of the last years of RRS driving) Wink :

First of all, a ideal actual Range Rover in my eye is an RRS V8 Petrol. I own since many years a RR Classic 3.5 V8 and this car teaches me every ride about a real RR feel.

The actual RR size is too high and too long for me, compared to the real RR Classic, so the closest actual model als follower of the old story, is for me the RRS L494.

I use my RRS for my long distance business tours, private and also offroad in my forests.

It was a no brainer for me, to go for the SDV6 in MY12 a few years a go, as its powerful with great economy and a fine sound for a "diesel".
After 2,5 Years I killed the engine, then I ordered directly the L494 SDV6 Hybrid and got a great powertrain in this combination.
But again, the engine died at 105.000 km after 2 Years.

Next I ordered the P400e, happy to get a full electric ride for 30-40 km and a quiet petrol engine. But it wasn't the case, the electric distance is not really far and the petrol engine is the opposite of refined, and the sound is a shame. Also the suspension is not the same you get with the regular RRS, so it drives fine, but not as direct as the rest of the line-up.

Now I ordered the P525, as I always wanted to get a new V8 with that fine, powerful sound and ride.
I got what I wanted, a car where you can cruise with a refined elegant and powerful sound and if you push it, its exploding and like an SVR really aggressive and sporty.
As for me, the great SVR is optic wise not an option and not in line with my lifestyle (like the decent style), the P525 is that car what makes me happy.
Btw., my Wife loves the sound and tries to get on the steering every time... Wink

Please don't ask about MPG, just let me say its really OK for that impressive drivetrain/car... Thumbs Up

Hope this gives a bit an insight... Wink

Like it man and thanks for the update!

How loud is it when you're crusing at 70-80mph?

I was in a full size 5ltr the other day Autobiography and it was very quiet except when accelerating.

My impression is, it’s a smooth V8, still present but very quiet, at 70-80 mph.
The revs are on the lower side as the torque is for a petrol massive.

But it’s all subjective, for me it feels a bit less noise than from my other RRS and FFRR experiences.
I try to measure it inside after the break in period, in round 2 Weeks. 2012 RRS HSE SDV6, BOURNVILLE 12/12-10/14

Beautiful sport there Renaco Thumbs Up

Love that colour its very rare.

Last of the old school supercharged V8's, soon they will become obsolete. Stunning motor I must say.

Cheers.

Like it!

Need to have a try in a SCV8 RRS as only been in an RR, RRS SVR and Jag cars with that engine.

Still need to find the sweet spot, maybe this is it!

I am trying to decide between the new P400 and the V8 in petrol or diesel. I love the V8 noise and grunt and don't do many miles so very tempted! MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys.

I also loved the V8 SC engine. It was the rest of the car that was the problem. Its very quiet and refined at 70-80 mph. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

Update...

After 3 Weeks I am still impressed about the drivetrain and the smoothness of the engine.
It's a pleasure to travel with the V8.

To finish the look, my garage added today my ordered 22‘s, as they where at the paint Shop to change the colour from anthracite to gloss black:

Hi Renaco

Looks great!
Have you also ti ted the windows?

Another question: I see the suspension is in drive position/normal height during park. Any reason for that? I have asked myself if this lowering is good for the suspension over longer time... Range Rover Sport HST D350

Hi Harrison

I didn´t tint the rear windows, I just have the Laitovo-Sunshades inside.
I always go that way, as I the tint at LR is too black for me, and during the grey winter months I remove it.

I don't lower the car, as I think the same, it just adds more wear to all mechanical parts. But also, I don't need it lowered, I am not tall but I can perfectly enter the car in the driving height.

Thanks for the response Smile

The rims are looking really nice! Good combination to the silicon silver!

I will ask my dealer about the lowering.. if there is any additional wear to the mechanic parts.. Range Rover Sport HST D350
