cam belt

I have just had a quote for the cam belt and oil pump replacement. £1100 inc vat, does this seem a bit on the expensive side or about right.
Thanks

As a guide I have just paid this week £750 for the belts to be changed and the 8 year service which I though was good value from a South London LR independent

That's very expensive. You should be aiming for around £650 Inc VAT

Got them down to £890 inc vat. Had to take the car into them today as one of the rear brake pipes split. One of the big ones over the diff. they are doing both front to back pipes and the small ones on the rear arms £240 inc vat. No one else round here would touch it. As soon as I mentioned the main brake lines the wait time went from 2 weeks to 3 months before they would touch it. This guy who quoted for the belts has got it in for the morning. He has loads of sports and ff range rovers in the workshop, and has been there since 2015.

That's the problem with living north of the border. Not known for being spendthrifts up there, are they? Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Been quoted elsewhere £700 inc vat, all new belts, idlers, bolts ect and pump, all genuine. As they are just over an hour away from me they are giving me a free courtesy car too, so I don't have to wait around all day.

Yes it is, they are around an hour away from me. Seem to have good reviews though. Last time the cam belts were done we were told that the pump didn't need changing. That was 7 years ago, the car has done just 10,000 in that time but I think its worth it now.
