Scumbag dog rescue

Last year my daughter (16) and my wife went to volunteer at a dog rescue shelter in Romania. They were discouraged from getting involved too much and were fobbed-off with various excuses. All the dogs looked undernourished and one dog (who we subsequently rescued) had lost an eye two months previously but had not been treated: in a scramble for food, the pack leader lifted the same dog by her tail and smashed her to the ground. The girls rescued some dogs to another shelter nearby.

On their return, they brought it to the attention of just about everyone they could, resulting in threats of violence against my daughter.

The dog shelter was raided today: out of seventy-six dogs, sixty were dead - some badly decomposed. They had all died of starvation, yet there were piles of food in the building. The 'owner' had been taking donations from the UK, ignoring the dogs and using the money to pay a mortgage. The video is harrowing to watch.

I did use the 'c' word: on this occasion my wife didn't rebuke me for doing so.

Only one eye and missing a few teeth, but safe and well:

Everyone has said that! He has gone into hiding (at his Mum's house Rolling Eyes ).

The latest development is the discovery of a pit with more dogs in it.

This evening, the person who ran the shelter handed himself in to the Police for his own safety. If you want to know why he needs protection - and you have a stout constitution - this is the video of the shelter (the subforum title says, "may contain material unsuitable for younger readers" - this does).

...only to see that video and the aftermath.

There would be outrage if the government made it law that you had to:

* Sign into a computer every fifteen minutes and describe what you are doing;
* Tell everyone where you are at any given time;
* Provide details of all the people you know and who know you;
* Provide photographic evidence of what you are doing;
* Keep photographs of you up-to-date (to help face-recognition software).

I didn't use my own name and the account will be deleted. Thumbs Up [/list]

This sort of thing makes me feel physically sick.

We rescued a lovely Irish Terrier about 5 years ago, she was so timid and anxious and liable to be aggressive when scared at the time and I'm not surprised if this is the way some of them are treated.

She's now the most loving and loyal dog you could ever wish to meet, well done to you, your wife and daughter Mr. Green 2015 BMW 435i MSport

To date, two-hundred and seventy-three formal complaints have been received by the local Police.

Rather than be fobbed-off, SWMBO has gone out there and sat around until she could make a statement. Belive me, she doesn't let things be forgotten... Shocked

Thank goodness for caring people like your wife and daughter!

They should be commended for their efforts and I sincerely hope the end result is a very unpleasant prison sentence for all involved in such cruelty & neglect.
