are you sure the thermostat is good?
i know you said you replaced it... but it looks to me like the stat is opening early in some cases? 2007 TDV6 RRS HSE..now gone

It's crossed my mind, but I have never seen the temp gauge on any car drop 1/4 when the thermostat opens. They have always stayed relatively stable.
A thermostat opening early doesn't explain the fan coming on though.
I must get the Foxwell on it over the weekend so I can monitor engine temperature.
