Central locking life of its own when keys out the ignition

Just stopped at home and turned the car off, with the key still in but off the hazards come on and the central locking locks and unlocks. Also had the heater fan puffing at the same rate as the hazards.... very odd.

It also threw up a parking brake issue but that went away and also HDC when i pulled off earlier.

Is it a low battery? throwing up faults or water ingress somewhere.

I have disconnected the battery for the moment as couldn't do anything else.

Any help would be good.

Its a 2005 with 31k on the clock had it around 6 months now. with no issues pervious.

Thanks
Jason

Anyone ?

If I let it have a fit it does stop after around a minute.

One thing to add is I understand the RRS is sensitive to battery voltage. Over the last few weeks I have had the low battery warning come up on the radio panel. But no other symptoms to report. Sometimes I might suspect a lazy start but no issues.

Would a low battery cause the central locking to throw a fit when ignition off ?

Low batteries can do all sorts of strange electrical things, worth trying a decent charger on the battery and maybe even a recon setting on the charger. 2016 Black SDV8 Autobiography

Well i checked the battery and it was 11.6 v this morning so took the punt and purchased another this morning. And its not cleared the issue.

It does however turn over and start a little better. When driving the car drives lovely no issues what so ever.

Stop the car and the car automatically goes to unlock all the doors, as soon as it does that the hazards come on and it just repeats itself unlocking every 2-3 seconds in tune with the flashers.

What i did notice was the drivers door would not always lock when pressing the key fob...

Could i have a faulty door latch/lock ? and its just telling me.

I assume you have the auto lock feature enabled? If so, try disabling it for a while and see what happens. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Try opening all the doors, boot and bonnet before turning the engine off and see what that does. If it doesn’t fail at that point I’d try closing the doors, boot and bonnet one at a time, starting and stoping the engine in between to see if that does anything. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Well now we're getting somewhere. Opened all doors and the hazards flashed once. Nothing else. I closed all doors one by one and nothing until I closed the front passenger door when it did it just a few times then stopped. I closed all doors and it was back to square one.

So with this point to the 2 fronts what does it tell me ? Faulty door actuators ??

Thanks again

Well i might have jumped the gun a little. Having thought i was getting somewhere i just tried it again the same procedure and it had no affect at all.

Going to pull the central locking fuse in a bit see what that does.

It may be worth googling Range Rover Sport Body Control Module faults.

http://www.bba-reman.com/gb/content/range_...e_problems

The link suggests checking the fuse box for corrosion first before suspecting the BCM. The link is for the FFRR and Disco but the sport has suffered the same issues.

Do you have a sun roof? Noticed any damp patches? Pressure washed the car recently? 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Hmmm.

Funny you should mention the pressure washer as i washed it but the pressure washer was playing up so i used a hose pipe on full force!! where is the BCM located.

I checked the fuse box under the bonnet and all seemed fine there.

Yes have a sunroof but not actually looked for any damp will investigate further today.

again thankyou.

Sounds like we have a symptom for the problem. But you need to identify the initial issue. Do you have a sunroof? If so, it’s common for the drains to block, lots of posts on the forum about it. Then it’s possible water has got on to some of the wiring/instrument cluster/ECUs.

Hopefully fixing the leak and drying out the cabin will fix it, but the damage maybe done. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)
