Rugged phones

Do any of you rugged, outdoorsie types have rugged, outdoorsie type smart phones?

I first started considering them when I got a marketing email from Landrover plugging their new Explore phone - https://landroverexplore.co.uk

I do a lot of fishing which means my phones are constantly getting wet, dropped, sat on and tend not to last very long. so a rugged phone would be useful and hopefully last a lot longer. wading in surf tends to reduce their life.

looking into it a bit further, there seems to be quite a wide range of "rugged" smartphones e.g. https://droidchart.com/en/ulefone/ulefone-armor-3-armor3-5165 and https://www.techradar.com/uk/reviews/blackview-bv6800-pro to name just a couple.

the prices seem very reasonable compared to conventional phones, and their specs seem quite good too, especially battery size/life.

unsurprisingly the Landrover phone seems expensive and under spec (particularly screen size) but presumably has a decent after sales support (what makes me think that?), but the others are unknown to me.

Anyone have any experience of these types of phones?

I hope it's OK to post those links (?) Merc C220 estate Sport AMG

Thanks for that jimbg, do you have any experience with those?

They all seem very low spec and very expensive too. Merc C220 estate Sport AMG

Some relatively inexpensive cases with toughened glass and rubber-coated aluminium covers have saved various iPhones of mine.

I have a Spigen case for Galaxy S7. It provides protection from scratching etc when dropped. The phone is "waterproof" so I'm just after the impact protection. I use a screen overlay to protect the screen. The phone can still charge wirelessly with cover on so that a plus for me. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Otter box and IIRC Pelicase make waterproof iPhone and iPad boxes - quite pricey but they are very good and cheaper than either a Caterpillar or an LR branded phone to boot 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I had a Memory Map rugged GPS many years ago, but now use a protective case as mentioned above. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled
