Slowing down and stopping

In an episode of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) on the telly last night, Randall used the 'slowing down and stopping' hand signal. So, (excluding learning to drive, a driving or cycling-proficiency test) when was the last time anyone used either of these?

I intend to turn left

I intend to slow down or stop

Not many people can mange to use the Indicator stalk these days, so there is no way in hell they are going to use hand signals except the middle finger one.

Cheers

Last used probably 20+ years ago driving an old tractor, with no indicators, on the road. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Slowing down/stopping I use every day to both warn oncoming traffic trying to come round the bus at the stop and for motorbikes coming zooming up behind me in the middle of the road. This is when I am in the hatched chevrons coming up to the dodgy right turn I need to make on my way home. This is on my bicycle.

The other one I have also used recently when driving to indicate that I was pulling over to the left when towing a trailer and that it was safe for the car behind to overtake (as I was the slower moving vehicle holding the other up).

To me it is a shame that they are still not part of the Highway Code as there is a good chance, particularly with the right arm up/down, that the people I'm doing it for the benefit of don't have a freaking clue what I'm trying to imply to them and will run me over anyway!
