GAP insurance recommendations?

Looking to purchase GAP insurance, any good recommendations?

Those of you who have it, have you ever had to make a claim?

First place I found was directgap.co.uk, seem to have pretty good reviews
4 year policy, £30k cover, back to invoice - £329
Seems like a good price to me, any thoughts?

John

Hi,

I had ALA gap through pistonheads on my Audi R8 and I was unfortunate enough to have to use it! Can't recommend them highly enough, if I need gap again will definitely be going back to these people, all the dealers will try and put you off them as they can't compete with the prices but they never let me down!

I have total loss gap, they were really cheap I had this on my M4 and transferred the remaining to the RRS.

Not sure how great it is other than cost, I think it covers upto the outstanding finance which is what I wanted, it does say invoice value but I think its what ever is higher.

i've used ALA also, though never claimed

Back to invoice, will cover back to invoice or finance settlement which ever is higher (normally invoice will be as finance will have had payments made, deposits taken off, settlement figure less interest and so on)

Another Thumbs Up for ALA - never needed to use it but heard good things and Lee above reaffirms that...

12% is good and you can get that with coupon code piston12 when checking out - its a Pistonheads code. They decreased it as when I took it out was piston20 and 20% off.

You can get 25% off online at the moment if you use code MSE25 at check out Thumbs Up

Yep, what everyone else has said, ALA every time with one of their many discount codes.

My daughter bought a BMW320D recently and the salesman managed to get her a “heavily discounted” GAP policy after cutting down his commission and speaking to his manager. She was over the moon and showed me the receipt where it had only cost £585!

A quick call To ALA and we got a higher level of cover on a 4 year full transferable policy for £160. I paid on my card over the phone there and then, followed by a call to the BMW garage to cancel her “heavily discounted” policy.

The next day she drove off home as happy as Larry. I then realised that her GAP policy hadn’t actually cost her anything at all..........🤨

Apparently “That’s what Dads are for”

How many people on this forum have ever claimed on their GAP insurance? Perhaps its totally unnecessary which is why it can be so inexpensive. Insure with NFU and they will give you this cover for, I believe, two years as part of the policy.
