Hi everyone!

I got a new RRS MY18 V8 Supercharged and I totally enjoy the car if it wasn’t the loud noise. The sound of the engine is too loud for me easpecially when going on the highways for more than 5 hours, I even get severe headaches when sitting in the back. So is there any way to make the sound quieter and preferably not loose the official warranty? Maybe there is anything I can do with the exhaust system or soundproofing? Thanks for the advice

Hi and welcome to the forum. Did you not test drive the car before buying it? I don't think there is anyway to hush a 5 litre V8 engine! An exhaust mod could prob help a little but it would mess with the warranty Im afraid.

Is the car in Auto-Terrain Response or being driven in Dynamic mode and S all the time? Normally people comment on the quietness of the S/C in normal mode until you welly it, and then it growls back. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

My SC was quite when I first got it that's why I altered the exhaust & removed the resonator & middle box,,even now its quite on the open road till you floor it then it gets up & growls.

Is it the supercharger making the noise when you put your foot down? I just purchased a 4.2S/C XKR that was loud so I had the supercharger oil changed which quieted it down and now its almost silent.  Cheers Laurence.

Yeah, mine is also quiet (compared to my previous Disco 4 SDV6) until i boot it --

Is the V8SC not as quiet as the SDV8 or SDV6 in cruise mode?

I know the SVR is a step up noise wise and thats to be expected considering how it's marketed but I was always told the non-SVR trim V8SC was as quiet as the SDV8 minus the coarse-ness.

Any extra thoughts - also Lisa are you talking about an SVR or a normal V8SC?

It's quiet at cruise speeds - it's got a pleasant rumble, but not loud enough to notice, even with the music off. --
