Winter Tyre Help Please..

Hello All,
I am considering getting a winter set of wheels & Tyres,
I will only fit them when we are due to get some white stuff
so I don't want to spend too much as it will be sitting around
for most of the year..

I have seen the following all reasonable prices,
and just wondered if anyone has experience with these and
would recommend any..

Gripmax Stature MS..
General Snow Grabber..
General Snow Grabber Plus..
Matador MP92 Sibir Snow..
Nankang Winter Activa SV-55..
Nexen Winguard Sport..

Any help would be great..
Thank you.. ===========================================

You're just going to fit them for a few days at a time? They're winter tyres, put them on in November, take them off in March. Job done and you benefit from better performance through the whole of the cold / wet period. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Both Matador & general are owned by Continental so you know you are getting a good tyre, also the Nexens arnt bad tyres it all depends what you want to spend on tyres.

Thank you for your advice, I will see how fast i can get the money together, and consider doing the swap at least before Christmas,,if not in November some time,,

Just need to reach consider what tyres to get now it's an extension of the original time I was looking at..

Any more advice would be fantastic.
Especially if you have any knowledge of the tyres above.. ===========================================

I've got Kumhos' on my winter wheels and they were effortless in this years snow. As RRSTDV8 says they go on at the end of Nov until March. Look out on here for a second set of alloys maybe with tyres or check the sister Disco or FFRR sites.

If your going to fit 20's it might be worth considering 275/45r20's as opposed to the 40 profile.

Scotland 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Used Vredestein Wintracs on a trip out to Finland over winter and found them to be excellent! Agree with the others though about putting them on in November and off again when temps improve, they work better than summer tyres when temp is below 9 degrees (so pretty much all year in Aberdeenshire šŸ˜) D3 LHD - great car !

Thank you all,
I think I will be going for a set of new wheels with a set of the
Matador MP92 Sibir Snow..

Total Fitted should be around Ā£1,100 so quite happy as its cheaper than a set of
4 x Pirelli Scorpion Winter 285/35 R22 106V XL at Ā£1,624 just for the tyres fitted..

Thank you guys.. ===========================================

In the England you're just wasting time and money. In adverse weather there is no need to drive at the limit of the car or tyres.

On the very rare occasions when one or two of the UK's roads are snow covered (blocked) you're just going to be held up by everyone else.

From what I understood about winter tyres, it was more to do with the cooler temperatures and the compound of the tyre. i.e. summer compounds being to hard in winter temps etc. However I tend not to drive fast or corner hard in winter anyway so donā€™t think Iā€™d need them. I say that now and will probably regret it when I come off the road ā€˜taking it easyā€™. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

This is the way I feel about insurance,
but I guess if its protecting my (To me) substantial investment,
then I would feel better in myself knowing I have the best possible grip
under me to keep my investment in the condition I would like it to be..

I would never push someone else to do the same as I do,
But I will always ask others for their advice, so I can make
my own choices, and my own mistakes..

Lets be honest I did buy a RRS.. ===========================================

Winter tyres give better braking in cold, wet conditions than summer tyres. The difference is between stopping or hitting the thing in front of you. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

OK now I have settled on the Wheels & Tyres,

I am now wondering when I have then put on the RRS will I have any
issues with the system that monitors the tyre pressures,
if they just fit normal valves on this set??

The system tells me currently that its set for low load pressure,
but will it have a fit if there are no readings? ===========================================
